Overnight Apple Oats with Cinnamon

Takes: Less than 15 mins prep, needs overnight to soak

Overnight Oats or Bircher Muesli are simply oats that are uncooked and soaked overnight in liquid (any) to soften them.

This is a base recipe with a few ideas thrown in to give you inspiration to start creating your own healthy, fuss-free, fibre-rich, nutritional brekkie. You can literally add anything you like.


Ingredients

50g rolled oats
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon nuts, I love hazelnuts, almonds and pecans
1 tablespoon raisins
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder (ginger powder also works amazingly)
125ml any milk (cows milk, oat milk, nut milk)
1 tablespoon fresh apple juice/any juice
Toppings - 1/2 small sliced apple, coconut yogurt, nut butter, granola (optional)

Method

  1. Mix the oats, chia seeds, nuts, raisins and cinnamon powder together.

  2. Pour in the milk and apple juice and mix well.

  3. Cover and leave in the fridge overnight.

  4. The next day, uncover and top with goodies. I love to use seasonal fruit, a spoon of dairy free yogurt, nut butter for flavour and a good sprinkling of homemade granola for crunch. Enjoy!
